- Talk at major European conference to focus on dissertation work
Fifth year LPS graduate student Ben Feintzeig will speak at the 2015 Biennial Meeting of the European Philosophy of Science Association, the most important European professional society for philosophy of science. Ben's talk is entitled "Unitary Inequivalence in Classical Systems". He will argue that a problem in the foundations of quantum field theory, recently discussed by a number of philosophers of physics, also arises in the context of classical theories, properly construed. More importantly, there is a clear solution in the classical case that, Feintzeig claims, can be adapted to the quantum field theoretic context. This work is based on a chapter of his dissertation. The conference will be held in Dusseldorff, Germany on September 23-26, 2015.
