Study: Higher minimum wages hurt teen employment, adult paychecks

Increases in minimum wages appeared to be the most significant factor in pushing teens out of the workforce, researchers found. “It seems to just be diminished work opportunities,” said David Neumark, economics professor at University of California-Irvine and the author of the study. “They are more likely to just be in high school.”
