of California, Irvine, [writes]: While party decline does represent a challenge for
democracy, I want to address three myths in the current discussions of party decline.
Undoubtedly, some public cynicism comes from the shortcomings of a specific party
leader or an incumbent party. But the larger lesson is that citizens in virtually
