No. 2 at UCI to become acting chancellor
- March 26, 2014
- Howard Gillman, provost and political science professor, is featured in the Orange County Register March 26, 2014
From the OC Register:
Howard Gillman may be the No. 2 person in charge at UC Irvine, managing day-to-day
operations and a $2.1 billion budget, but he’s aching to get back in the classroom.
“In my heart, I still think of myself as a scholar and a teacher,” Gillman said. “It’s
one of the things that’s most meaningful to me in my career.” Teaching might have
to wait, though, as Gillman is set to take over as interim chancellor of UC Irvine
in June, when Michael Drake, the chancellor, leaves to become the 15th president of
Ohio State University.
