First-of-its-kind map of the mouse nose reveals surprises about the sense of smell

Alyssa Brewer, a neuroscientist at the University of California, Irvine, said that these findings are very exciting, as they completely overturn the existing idea of how olfactory receptors are organized. The work "beautifully resolves a long-standing question about the peripheral olfactory system in mice," Brewer, who was not involved in the study, told Live Science in an email.
