Long Institute Grants
Are you a graduate student who is currently enrolled and in good standing at UC Irvine? Does your dissertation focus on the PRC, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or the Chinese diaspora? You are eligible to apply for the 2024 Long Institute Graduate Student Grant competition!
 
Eligibility
Current graduate students in a PhD, MA, or MFA program at UC Irvine, whose research focuses on the PRC, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and/or the Chinese diaspora and aligns with the Long Institute Focus Areas. Grants may be used for travel and lodging for fieldwork, data collection, conference support, and/or other costs directly related to the research project.
 
Application Materials
A one-page project narrative, describing your research and explaining why you are seeking support from the Long Institute.
A detailed budget and budget narrative, describing how and when you intend to use the funds. Applicants can apply for up to $1,000 in grant funding.

Deadline for Submission
Email your project narrative and budget to Emily Baum, emily.baum@uci.edu, and Yimin Lai, ylai5@uci.edu, by 5pm PT on Friday, May 3. Applicants will be notified of the results no later than the end of May.
