Morgan Dickinson

UCI’s top rankings and an interest in human behavior led senior psychology major Morgan Dickinson to pursue her undergraduate degree in psychology as an Anteater. Following her commencement ceremony in December, the Anaheim native will pursue her master’s in forensic psychology at Cal Baptist University. Below, the soon to be alumna shares more about her UCI experience and plans post-commencement.

What made you decide to pursue your current field of study, and specifically at UCI? What interests you most about your work?

I have always been fascinated by why people do what they do. I knew early on in life that I wanted to work in the field of psychology. UCI was always referred to as a reputable university that was well respected by people in the field of psychology, so I knew that UCI was my top choice. Studying people’s behaviors will be the most interesting to me in my career.

When will you finish your degree and what are your plans thereafter?

I am graduating this December and will walk in the ceremony on December 18th. I am immediately beginning my master’s program this January in forensic psychology at Cal Baptist University.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment at UCI?

I think continuing to try my hardest and get the best grades possible despite life’s challenges is my biggest accomplishment at UCI. Throughout my journey at UCI, my grandpa was sick until he passed away in October last year. My grandpa always valued education and continued to encourage me to keep going and finish my degree. Somehow, despite losing my grandpa suddenly in the middle of the academic quarter, I was able to get all A’s that term.

Who has played an important mentorship role in your life thus far and why? Specifically at UCI?

I would not be where I am today without the sacrifices my parents made to provide me with the opportunity to pursue a college education. My best memory has been getting to learn from professors who are at the top of their respective fields in terms of experience.
