Christopher Lowman

“Archaeology is never about the pursuit of a single object, particularly when that object is immediately removed from the context in which it's found,” Dr Christopher Lowman, Assistant Professor of Teaching in the anthropology department at the University of California, Irvine, told IFLScience. “Archaeology is the study of the material, human past. And through that, a way to try to understand people, cultures, individuals, and communities, in other times and places. And for Indiana Jones, the pursuit of a single treasure ends up becoming so much of the focus of his work, that we really don't find out that much about what life was like, in the past.”
