grant activity

The Long Institute is pleased to issue a call for our latest round of graduate student research grants. Funding will be offered on a competitive basis to graduate students currently enrolled at UC Irvine whose research focuses on some aspect of contemporary Chinese society, politics, business, and/or law and is in line with the focus areas of the Institute. Students may apply for up to $1,000 in research support, which will be disbursed as a reimbursement upon completion of the project. Funds can be used for travel and lodging to support research, books or other research-related materials, and conference expenses. Students who have not yet received funding from the Long Institute will be given priority, but we encourage all current graduate students who are in good standing to apply.

To apply, submit the following documents:

1) A one-page project narrative, describing the research to be undertaken and its significance to the field;

2) A tentative budget with narrative explanation for the costs to be incurred.

Applications should be emailed to Yimin Lai, ylai5@uci.edu, and must be received no later than Wednesday, May 17 at 5pm PT.

Awardees will be notified by the end of May.
