“The goal is to diversify California’s medical schools. Belinda Campos, professor and chair of Chicano/Latino Studies [at UCI]: ‘The more we have people from many different experiences who approach problems of health with different lenses and in different ways that I think are really important for creative problem solving. We don’t want medical school classes filled with people who all think the same way and approach problems in the same way. I think that limits the creativity and the innovation and the future problem solving – in terms of health – that can happen.’”
