Ana Elizabeth Rosas, UCI Chicano/Latino studies associate professor, has received a 2021 Spirit Award from the Office of Inclusive Excellence. The $5,000 prize will support her work to direct and teach the Public Scholarship Summer Institute in summer 2022. This civic engagement institute’s design and curriculum will bring together a team of underrepresented UCI undergraduate and graduate students to pursue public scholarship opportunities and a community partnership with El Sol Science and Arts Academy of Santa Ana (El Sol Academy). Together, they will work to contribute to a public history showcase and a permanent exhibit on El Sol Academy's history of letter-writing.
