Professor Victoria Bernal has been awarded a Senior Research Fellowship by the University of Leuven and is currently working and conducting research in Belgium. At the invitation of the journal African Diaspora she is the editor of a special issue on "African Digital Diasporas." In Brussels Professor Bernal has organized a research and writing group that includes faculty from  the University of  Leuven, the University of Ghent, and the Free University. On October 22 she will give an invited talk to the Faculty of Social Sciences, KU Leuven on "Digital Power and the Security State: Lessons from Eritrea and the U.S."
