If Trump’s original plan to eventually round up most, if not all, unauthorized immigrants
were to be enforced – a prospect that many experts consider impossible both practically
and legally – the impact on California’s economy would be “devastating,” said UC Irvine
Professor Leo Chavez, who has written several books on Latino immigration.
