- Book edited by Avise, Ayala and Skyrms featured in NAS online project
-----
In Light of Evolution VIII: Darwinian Thinking in the Social Sciences, edited by UCI professors John Avise, Francisco Ayala and Brian Skyrms, has just
appeared in a series of Digital Reprint Editions, a new undertaking by the National
Academy of Sciences intended to make its work widely available for students and the
broader scientific community. The book grew out of an NAS Arthur M. Sackler colloquium
they organized at the Beckman Center last year. Sackler was a physician and entrepeneur
who prospered in the pharmaceutical business, and devoted his later life to widespread
philanthropy; conferences in the series named for him address scientific topics that
cut across the boundaries of traditional disciplines. The current volume includes
contributions of scientists from biology, demography, economics, political science,
psychology, anthropology, mathematics, and philosophy.
