Migrant surge fueling Arizona governor's race

"It makes it very difficult in this sort of political environment for a Republican
who's moderate on immigration or wants to focus on other issues to neglect immigration
or to not make it sort of a central issue in the campaign," said Louis Desipio, a
professor of political science and Chicano/Latino studies at the University of California,
Irvine. "For Arizona, immigration has been such a hot-button issue for a decade or
so, and it didn't take much to reinvigorate it."
