Immigration reform died with Cantor’s defeat, analysts say

Any last hope that the House of Representatives might pass immigration reform this
year died this week with the shocking defeat of Majority Leader Eric Cantor in his
Republican primary … The demise of immigration reform that appears to have been sealed
by Cantor's defeat puts more pressure on Obama to reduce deportations of undocumented
immigrants whose only crime is being in the United States illegally, said Louis DeSipio,
professor of political science and Latino studies at the University of California,
Irvine.
