We asked Howard Gillman, who will serve as interim chancellor of UC Irvine, what’s
in store for the next chancellor of the university…“What’s great about the campus
is we’re young, incredibly accomplished and still very ambitious,” Gillman said. “We’re
not set in our ways. We still feel we have more to prove. We can be more innovative
and bold and entrepreneurial than a lot of well-established and settled institutions.”
Especially since UCI is in one of the most entrepreneurial parts of the country. “Those
qualities of the campus are going be conspicuous to anyone who is coming in,” he said.
The next chancellor will build on Drake’s work.
