Unintended Consequences of Mobile Money: IMTFI Research in Kenya and Ethiopia featured in Bloomberg Businessweek

Research by IMTFI fellows Sibel Kusimba and and Woldmariam Mesfin was featured in a May 23 2013 Bloomberg Business Week Technology article by Brendan Greeley on the "Unintended Consequences of Mobile Money". Greeley highlights the importance of IMTFI's emphasis on ethnographic research approaches to understand how mobile money operates as not only an economic but social tool, with a variety of consequences for kinship, gift, ritual, and credit relationships and exchanges.
