From the OC Register:
In his first term, President Barack Obama played a cautious manager navigating the
worst economic disaster since the Great Depression and cleaning up the messes left
by President George W. Bush in Iraq and Afghanistan. He showed boldness when he saved
the auto industry from liquidation and hunted down Osama bin Laden, but boldness was
not the norm. He spent a year and considerable political capital passing comprehensive
health care reform, but instead of opting for the single-payer lodestar loved by liberals,
he pursued the Heritage Foundation-inspired Affordable Care Act. His conservative
critics painted him as the wild-eyed liberal, but he governed as a moderate… Kevin
O'Leary is a journalist and political scientist at the Center for the Study of Democracy
at UC Irvine.
