With Iran’s imminent victory over the full might of U.S. Military aggression against it, its continued physical presence in the entire region of West Asia is now an open question rather than a fait accompli, along with the Army’s recent announcement that they are committing to permanently ending live-fire training in Mākua Valley on the island of O’ahu in Hawaii, one thing has become clear: U.S. Empire is in retreat. But where will they go after being forced out of places where they are no longer welcome? How will they adjust their orientation and strategy on the world stage as their influence rapidly wanes and people across the Global South increasingly rise to shake the imperialist behemoth off their backs? And most importantly: what do we need to do to prepare for the last, violent trashing of U.S. Empire in its end stage, and how can we organize to lay the foundation for a better possible world after it falls?

Join Mikey Inouye (Director), Sparky Rodrigues (Mālama Mākua), Summer Mullins-Ibrahim (mother, educator, Kanaka ʻŌiwi cultural practitioner, poet and activist) at the University of California, Irvine for three days of events around the documentary “Mālama Mākua”, where we will discuss the possible futures of life after U.S. Empire, the pathway to liberation from Occupied Hawai‘i to Occupied Palestine, and what true solidarity might look like for all of us living in the belly of this dying beast.
