Characterizing Core Knowledge Through the Lens of Rational Constructivism

Characterizing the initial state has been a challenging task for all students of cognitive development. Spelke (2022) laid out a clear and comprehensive view of core knowledge systems. Here we take a rational constructivist view by examining whether core knowledge principles are subject to revision, and how studying learning may shed light on the nature of core knowledge representations. Xu will discuss evidence from both human adults, children, and LLMs (GPT-4).
