This workshop series event is an opportunity to learn about interdisciplinary approaches to pursuing and developing academic and career goals as students prepare for the upcoming Winter 2026 academic quarter. Information about the UCI CAMINOS Lab Reading Group will also be shared during this workshop event.

Natalie Aguilar is a communications and research professional passionate about using marketing and branding tools to amplify research based policies that empower underserved communities. She specializes in strategic marketing, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven storytelling to drive awareness and promote sustainable and equitable policies. Her experience spans nonprofit advocacy, local government, and global policy initiatives, and she holds a Master’s of International Affairs from UC San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies from UC Irvine.

Maritza Duran, Ph.D., MSW, is a first generation college student from McFarland, California. She currently works as a Staff Psychologist at the VA in Long Beach, CA. She received her doctorate from the University of Georgia in Counseling Psychology in 2022. She received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 2016. While at UCI, Maritza majored in Chicano Latino Studies and Sociology. Her research includes farmworking communities, mental health of immigrants, bilingual mental health services, and trauma in communities of color.
