About the talk:

Over the past two decades, China's venture capital industry has undergone significant growth. Today, China is the second largest VC market in the world, after the United States. The VC industry has become an important driving force for innovation in China, contributing to the country's emergence as a global economic powerhouse. The lecture will discuss the evolution of VC investment practice in China, including the sources of capital, the players, the laws and the terms, as well as the larger changes of China and the global economic order it reflects.

About the speaker:

With years of experience as a partner at large international law firms, KC is an expert in VC/PE investment in the China market, having handled hundreds of investment projects since 2006. Additionally, KC has held various leadership roles, including managing director and general counsel of a large private equity firm, where he was responsible for its formation, fundraising, and control investment. He also built and managed the legal department of a unicorn portfolio company, supporting its fast growth through an efficient legal and compliance system. KC has also been an entrepreneur, having founded an internet-based legal service platform that was financed by venture capital. His experience as a CEO of a startup company has given him invaluable insights into the challenges faced by entrepreneurs. Moreover, KC is an expert in legal service efficiency, using Lean Legal Methodology and automation technology to deliver better legal services to his clients.

KC graduated from Yale Law School (J.D., 2004), Harvard University (M.A. in Chemistry, 2001), and the National University of Singapore (B.Sc. 1st Hon., 1998). He is a licensed attorney in the State of New York.
