This conference brings together leading interdisciplinary scholars from across the social sciences and humanities that engage pressing global issues such as human rights, regional and non-state conflict, inequality, mass migration, climate change and global health. Complex and interrelated global issues call for multilateral solutions that are well beyond the capacity of any one nation-state. Understanding how these global-scale issues impact people in different local contexts requires global scholars to analyze the world as an interconnected set of processes that span the local-global continuum. Global-scale issues also call for new integrated ways of thinking that move beyond the conventional disciplines and away from conventional state-based notions of international order.
