Social entrepreneurs are individuals who target situations that cause marginalization, neglect, and suffering in vulnerable populations; who see opportunities for direct action in these situations; and who work to create permanent solutions and systems change for targeted groups and society at large.

Burt will present two social innovations that he has been developing during the past few years: "Financially Self-Sufficient Agricultural Schools" and the "Poverty Stoplight", a new poverty measurement tool that enables poor families to develop customized poverty elimination plans.
