The Department of Logic & Philosophy of Science Colloquium Series presents

"Paradoxes of Interaction?"
with Martin Fischer, Research Scholar, Ludwig Maximilian University (Munich)

February 28, 2014
3:00-5:00 p.m.
Social Science Tower, Room 777 (LPS Conference Room)

In their paper ``No Future'' Horsten and Leitgeb investigate the possibilities of formalizing temporal modalities as predicates. There are two interesting aspects: first, the axiomatic theory they present treats two modalities that interact. Second, rather innocent looking principles lead to an inconsistency. In the talk Fischer will argue that the interaction of the modalities is responsible for the inconsistency and that the paradox is not reducible to a paradox of a single modality.
