The Department of Logic & Philosophy of Science Colloquium Series presents

"What’s The Problem with Quantum Theory?"
with Arthur Fine, University of Washington

Friday, March 8, 2013
4:00 p.m.
Social & Behavioral Sciences Gateway, Room 1321

"This theory reminds me a little of the system of delusions of an exceedingly intelligent paranoiac, concocted of incoherent elements of thoughts" (Albert Einstein, 1952). In his talk, Fine will show how such "incoherent" elements figure in central quantum no-go theorems, including the recent PBR result that some have described as "seismic". That will point to a common source and a common cure for the "delusions" – well, for some of them.
