Duffy named president-elect of Society for Experimental Finance

John Duffy, UC Irvine professor of economics and co-director of the Experimental Social Science Laboratory, has been elected president-elect of the Society for Experimental Finance. The nonprofit association is home to nearly 500 academic researchers dedicated to advancing research in finance and market structure through controlled laboratory, field, and online experiments.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Society for Experimental Finance,” Duffy said. “My hope is to help broaden the society’s membership and increase recognition of how experimental methods can improve our understanding of financial markets and the financial decisions of households and firms.”
Duffy is an experimental economist whose research examines how individuals make decisions, form expectations, use information and interact strategically in economic settings. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation and published in leading journals, including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Finance, Management Science and the Review of Economic Studies.
Duffy’s election took place at the society's 16th annual meeting, held June 15-17 in Toulouse, France. He will serve as president-elect from 2026-28 and as president from 2028-30.
