Caitlin Zaloom … talks with [UC Irvine Chancellor’s Professor of sociology] and author Nina Bandelj about her new book Overinvested: The Emotional Economy of Modern Parenting. “As an economic sociologist I was used to following the money and I saw that parents were going into more and more debt to raise children. To me that was quite surprising at first. Then I started to see how following the money leads us to where love goes, and how financial demands and emotional demands of parenting are tightly connected,” says Bandelj.
