ICE agreements with Texas police climb as new state law takes effect

Charis Kubrin, a professor of criminology, law and society at University of California, Irvine said the agreements are creating “a cascade of problems in communities that we’re seeing, whether it’s breakdown in trust with law enforcement, fear in our communities, people not reporting crimes because they don’t want to get involved, you name it.” … On top of that, she said, the foundation of the supposed need for the partnerships is flawed because there is not a link — statistically — between migrants and crime, Kubrin said.
