‘Now it’s about personal happiness’: popular Granny Wang dating show belies China’s falling marriage rates

China’s marriage rates have plummeted to record lows, a trend that is increasingly treated as a national crisis. … The trend is particularly apparent among urban, educated women. More than 40% of urban 25- to 29-year-olds have never married, up from 9% in 2000, according to analysis from Wang Feng, a professor of sociology at the University of California, Irvine.
