Michael Tesler, a political science professor at the University of California, Irvine agrees. Musk’s “political brand is deeply polarizing and has provoked intense backlash against his company from the consumers most likely to buy EVs,” says Tesler, in an email, referring to liberal consumers who care about the environment and are likely electric vehicle buyers. … With all of the dissatisfaction with Musk and the resulting boycotts and backlash to Tesla, Tesler doesn’t see the situation getting better for the electric vehicle company anytime soon.
