President Donald Trump and Elon Musk are taking aim at Social Security. … On March 28, the SSA said it planned to cut about 7,000 jobs. … Yet, a similar effort to cut staffing levels in the 1980s led to tens of thousands of Americans not getting their earned benefits because they had difficulty signing up, according to a newly-released study by a University of California, Irvine researcher.
