Charles Anthony Smith [UC Irvine political science professor] and Connor B.S. Strobel [UCI Ph.D., sociology, ‘22] , co-authors of a forthcoming book titled The Politics of Perverts, discuss the political attitudes and activities of individuals who identify with non-traditional sexual orientations and practices. “The motivation for the book was – as it looked like the United States Supreme Court was moving to embrace marriage equality – we were wondering, ‘Well, what’s next in sexuality and politics research? Who do we look for as having their rights taken away, or not granted, because of their sexuality, beyond the gay and lesbian population?’” says Smith.
