In the second segment, is Shawn Khalifa, [a participant in] UCI’s Underground Scholars Program for formerly incarcerated individuals. The extended portion of his interview is posted on this same day. “Facing significant challenges in his early life, Shawn’s resilience and determination have led him to a series of notable achievements. After graduating with honors as a “Student of Distinction” from Southwestern Community College, he’s now graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology here at UCI, where – as you’ll hear – he’s deepening his understanding of societal structures and human interaction,” says host Claudia Shambaugh.
