“On most foreign policy issues, most people don’t have very strong opinions, but out of them, independents probably have the weakest opinions,” said Michael Tesler, a professor of political science at UC Irvine. … According to Tesler, their opinions are in line with what is expected from independents. “One of the reasons that they’re independents to begin with is they view politics as divisive, and this is about as divisive an issue as you can get,” Tesler said specifically of the Israel-Hamas war.
