Winter Commencement Message
- December 2, 2022
- From the dean
***UCI's all-university December commencement ceremony is Dec. 12 @ 10 a.m. in the Bren. More details...***
Congratulations to our UCI social sciences graduates! I’m so proud to welcome you as our newest members of the Social Sciences Alumni Network. With your graduation, you are joining an elite group of more than 60,000 changemakers who can be found everywhere from the halls of justice in D.C. to capitals around the world engaged in international relations work. Our alumni are making a difference through entrepreneurial endeavors from Northgate to Northern Africa, in courtrooms across the nation, boardrooms in some of the world’s top companies, and classrooms around the globe training our next generation of leaders.
I know the last few years are not what any of us would have envisioned your college experience to be. But then again, for many of us, the road has never been straightforward, easy or clear. That's been the case for more than half of today's graduating class, who, with the turn of a tassel, represent the first person in their families to graduate from college.
No matter your story, you've all shown the true resiliency of the soc sci Anteater spirit. And as you leave UCI with your hard-earned degree, I challenge each of you to continue pursuing a future that makes the world a better place than you’ve found it. Be bold, always break the mold, and be boundaryless in your pursuit.
Congratulations, social sciences graduates of the class of 2022.
Zot, zot, zot!
