Kevin V. Si, social policy & public service and education sciences double major, is
the recipient of the 2022 Caesar D. Sereseres Award for Outstanding Service. Si is
a member of UCI's Campuswide Honors Collegium and is completing the social science
honors program. His research examines first generation BIPOC undergraduates' college
persistence. During his time at UCI, Si has played an instrumental role in the School
of Social Sciences as a mentor and administrative intern in the First-Generation,
First Quarter Challenge Program, helping first-generation first year and transfer
students transition to UCI. He has also served as a site supervisor for Global Connect,
leading undergraduate interns as they teach at local high schools. Across the campus,
Si serves as a peer academic advisor in the School of Education and has served in
a leadership role in ASUCI as an education senator. Recently, he accepted a position
as administrative support coordinator for the School of Engineering and Computer Science
at CSU Fullerton where he is part of a strategic team creating pathways for first-gen
students.
The Caesar D. Sereseres Outstanding Service Award was established in the School of
Social Sciences to commend graduating seniors who have demonstrated outstanding service
within key educational, leadership, and outreach programs in the School of Social
Sciences and campus community. The award honors Caesar Sereseres, political science
associate professor and former associate dean, for two decades plus of outstanding
service to the school and campus.
