“When you have lots of different tactics going at once, you have lots of entry points for people becoming engaged in the issue,” said David Meyer, [professor of sociology], at the University of California, Irvine who studies climate protest movements. … “Movements that don’t diversify their tactics evaporate or get crushed,” Meyer added. “If you don’t innovate tactics, it gets boring and authorities find ways of dealing with you.”
