- 14 social sciences staff members honored for career milestones, two awarded Leinen Service recognition for fostering excellence, innovation and community
On its first official day back in person on campus since going fully remote in March 2020, UCI social sciences took the opportunity Sept. 1 to honor staff. Career milestones within the University of California system - 5, 15, 20 and 30 years of service – were celebrated by fourteen social sciences Anteaters and met with applause from the tightknit social sciences community gathered outdoors in the school’s plaza. Two staff members - Luis Fonseca, social sciences communications and marketing officer, and Adam Cook, economics department manager - were recognized as the 2020 and 2021 recipients of the David L. Leinen Outstanding Staff Award, respectively. The honor annually recognizes social sciences staff for fostering excellence, innovation and community within the school and across campus.
“What a wonderful in person reunion and celebration of all that we have accomplished!” said Bill Maurer, dean. “Congrats to those whom we recognized, and to everyone for soc sci’s indomitable spirit. Zot zot zot!”
