The School of Social Sciences is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019-20 Dean’s Awards for Outstanding Teaching.

Faculty were nominated for one of three awards to recognize outstanding teaching in the School of Social Sciences. In addition to teaching excellence, the awards recognize a commitment to inclusive excellence and dedication to higher education through the use of innovative methods and mentorship. The selection was done by the school’s Executive Committee.

The 2019-20 awardees are: 

  • Kristin Turney - Sociology, Dr. Joseph L. White Award for Outstanding Mentorship
  • JB Manchak – Logic & Philosophy of Science, Dean’s Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching
  • Brian C. Jenkins – Economics, Dean’s Award for Outstanding Teaching Innovation

The recipients each receive a $2,000 research stipend. A celebratory reception will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 3 p.m. in Social Science Plaza B, Room 1222.
