Louis DeSipio, who studies Latino politics and directs the UC Irvine Center for the Study of Democracy says, “She could have invested in some sort of ground game in high-propensity Latino areas and allied with community groups to get out her message. The community-based infrastructure is there, but Sanchez either hasn’t felt it worth her time or energy to build those bridges.”
