Studies show that racial resentment is deepening among the electorate, and that could give rise to the kind of nationalist movement seen in Europe, especially as America’s white population loses its majority status. “Trump comes in and just lights a match” under that trend, said Michael Tesler, a political science professor at UC Irvine.
