According to professors who have studied aspects of the development of new Wal-Mart
stores, the location of the market in Teays Valley makes sense from the company’s
business perspective. David Neumark, an economics professor at the University of California,
Irvine who has studied the effect of Wal-Mart stores on local labor markets, said
the company tends to develop in locations that are already prospering.
