Louis DeSipio, professor of political science and Chicano/Latino studies at UC Irvine,
said Tuesday that immigrants do often vote for Democrats but disagreed with Coulter’s
predictions on immigration reform. “Even if there were a legalization program tomorrow…it
would take years for legalized immigrants to vote,” DeSipio said. He said there is
plenty of time for Republicans to build a better relationship with immigrants.
