The U.S. men's volleyball team, which trains in Anaheim, was swept by Italy in a
quarterfinal, 28-26, 25-20, 25-20. Fountain Valley's Russell Holmes had five spikes
and two blocks, and Tustin's Rich Lambourne had 10 digs and five sets...The American
men's water polo team was eliminated in an 8-2 quarterfinal loss to Croatia. It was
the third consecutive loss for the U.S. Seal Beach's Adam Wright had two steals and
an assist, and UC Irvine's Ryan Bailey scored a goal.
