Rubén Rumbaut, UCI sociology professor (pictured), and Roberto G. Gonzales, UCI sociology Ph.D. alumnus and University of Washington professor, were among a group of immigration scholars who participated in a national teleconference December 13 to discuss their support of the DREAM Act. Currently under review by the U.S. Senate, the bill - slated for a vote by the Senate this week - would give certain undocumented immigrant youth an opportunity at legal status. Earlier this month, immigration scholars - several from UCI - took part in drafting and signing a letter in support of the DREAM Act.
