Royce Carroll is an associate professor of political science at Rice University. His research focuses on democratic institutions and the role of representation in the policy-making process, particularly legislative politics and the politics of coalitions within and between political parties. Carroll’s current research projects focus on the distribution of legislative power, the spatial analysis of political choices, inter-branch relations, and legislative voting.

Carroll has published articles in the American Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Comparative Political Studies, Political Analysis, and the Journal of Empirical Legal Studies among others.
