Catch UCI anthropologist and author Angela Garcia in "Variedades," a variety show of music, spoken word, compedy and conversation hosted by Ruben Martinez at LA's The Echo.  A native of Albuquerque, Garcia studies the often-overlooked epidemic of rural drug addiction. She recently chronicled the lives of several individuals from New Mexico's Española Valley in The Pastoral Clinic: Addiction & Dispossession Along the Rio Grande, which won the 2010 PEN USA Literary Award for exceptional first book.
