The Law Forum academic certificate program is open to all
UCI students who meet the program prerequisites, including a membership interview. Please see the
program details for more
information on the coursework required to earn this certificate.
The Law Forum also represents a community of UCI students with a
particularly strong interest in law and its role in society. Law Forum
members find a great deal in common during their time in the program. In
addition to completing the academic certificate requirements, many members take
advantage of the following periodic opportunities:
-
Discussion
Events ―
Faculty and community guests join the Law Forum in sponsoring a variety of
activities (such as coffee breaks, brown bag lunches and film screenings).
Law Forum members receive email invitations to these
special events.
-
Guest
Debater or Guest Judge ―
Students who have completed the "Advocacy"
course often enjoy participating as a member of
a special exhibition debate team or visiting subsequent Advocacy classes as
a guest judge.
-
Paper
Presenter ―
Law Forum members are encouraged to present their research papers to their
peers in a small group setting. This provides valuable public speaking
experience as well as useful insight for possible paper revision.
-
Law Journal
Author or Editor
― The annual
Law Forum Journal provides a showcase for
UCI student research papers. Article submissions are accepted from the
entire campus; however, only Law Forum members may apply to serve as Journal
editors. Some students are elevated to positions of increasing
responsibility as Lead Editors or members of the Journal Editorial Board.
In addition, our ever-expanding alumni
network allows current and former Law Forum members to keep in contact
both during and after their time at UCI.
